There are many ways to mark the Valentine season, but an evening of live orchestral music offers something distinct. On February 13, 2026 at 7:30 PM, the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra continues its 41st Concert Season – Versatile with Concert VI: Romanza at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Makati. Its timing, just a night before Valentine’s Day, makes it a fitting choice for those who want an evening shaped by atmosphere, artistry, and the presence of a full orchestra.

Romanza sits at the heart of PPO’s expansive 41st season, which began with Overture and Retour last September, continued with Concerto and Virtuoso, resumed with Prelude this January, and will later move into Opera and CODA. Each concert in the Versatile lineup offers a distinct musical focus, and Romanza takes its cue from the warmth and emotional openness associated with February.

This program includes the world premiere of Mozart’s unfinished Concerto for Violin and Piano (K. Anh. 56/315f), completed by contemporary composer Jeffrey Ching. It is a rare chance to hear Mozart’s musical ideas brought forward through modern completion. The evening also features Wieniawski’s Violin Concerto No. 2 in D minor, a staple of the Romantic violin repertoire, and Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloé Suite No. 2, a work known for its orchestral color and sweeping atmosphere. Together, the selections form a program well-suited to the idea of “romanza,” music shaped by feeling, expression, and tonal richness.

Performing with the PPO are soloists Bartek Nizioł and Junhee Kim, appearing under the baton of Maestro Grzegorz Nowak.

Romanza arrives just in time for the Valentine season, and its blend of expressive music, thoughtful programming, and orchestral atmosphere makes it easy to pair with the mood of the occasion. Whether shared with a partner, enjoyed with friends, or experienced alone, the evening offers a gentle alternative to the usual Valentine plans and a chance to listen, reflect, and spend time inside the world of the PPO’s current season.
